UA Vision Nordic was not born in a boardroom or an accelerator. It was born in the smoke. Two of the company's three co-founders are active-duty Swedish firefighters who have spent years entering burning buildings with the same fundamental limitation that has defined the profession for over a century: you cannot see, you cannot know, and you cannot wait.

They have personally experienced what happens when an incident commander must make life-or-death decisions based on fragmentary radio communication and a rough sketch on a whiteboard. They have been the smoke diver navigating by feel through zero-visibility corridors, unsure whether the floor will hold, where the fire is spreading, or whether a colleague has been cut off. They built UA Vision Nordic because no technology existed that solved their problem — so they decided to build it themselves.

Marcus has spent his career as an operational firefighter and drone specialist — first on the fireground, then at the intersection of aviation and rescue. As a member of COLLARIS, the European collaborative network on unmanned aerial systems for rescue operations, he has seen firsthand how European fire services are struggling to integrate drone intelligence into live operations. Not because the technology doesn't exist, but because nothing connects it into a coherent operational picture.

His deep relationships with national fire authorities, MSB, and the National Development Centre (NUC) are not the result of salesmanship. They are the result of professional respect, earned on the job.

Andreas is a firefighter, station commander, and serial entrepreneur with deep expertise in high-voltage systems and test infrastructure — skills that turned out to be essential when designing a sensor unit that must survive the thermal, electrical, and mechanical punishment of a live fireground. Where others see a technology problem, Andreas sees a systems integration problem. And he knows how to solve those.

He leads MEV-Cam hardware development and is the primary technical contact for UA Vision's dialogue with FOI (the Swedish Defence Research Agency) and Chalmers University, where two active master's thesis projects are running on AI sensor fusion for the MEV-Cam proof of concept.

The Problem

Every Second of Uncertainty Costs Lives

Firefighters enter burning buildings with no shared map, no real-time building data, and no common operating picture. Incident commanders make decisions based on radio fragments and whiteboard assumptions. In 2026, this is still the operational reality across the world's fire rescue services.

Incident commanders and smoke divers operate from disconnected information streams. There is no unified real-time view of who is where, and what is happening inside a structure. Critical decisions are still coordinated by radio fragments and hand-drawn sketches.

Zero Visibility Environments
In smoke-filled structures, visibility drops to zero within meters. Standard cameras are useless. Personnel navigate by feel, memory, and assumption — with lethal consequences. There is no real-time 3D awareness of the space they are inside.

Flashover, structural collapse, toxic gas accumulation, and EV lithium-ion battery thermal runaway cannot be predicted from ground-level observations alone. Real-time sensor intelligence doesn't exist yet at the operational frontline.

Where Our Worlds Converge

The operational domain of fire rescue and civil security shares significant technology and infrastructure overlap with aerospace and defense. Andreas reached out because your background at Airbus — particularly at the intersection of communications, emergency services, and aerospace platforms — feels genuinely relevant to what we are building.

  • Drone integration and autonomous platforms. Our OptiSafe ecosystem is designed for sensor-equipped drone deployment — pre-entry reconnaissance, aerial COP, and autonomous first-responder nodes. Airbus's rotorcraft and urban air mobility expertise is directly relevant to our roadmap.
  • Secure communications infrastructure. Mesh-networked multi-agency coordination requires robust, low-latency, interference-resistant communication — an area where Airbus's satcom and tactical comms capabilities represent potential supply-chain and partnership value.
  • Dual-use deeptech positioning. The sensor fusion, AI decision support, and real-time COP architecture we are building is relevant to any high-stakes operational environment — civilian or defense. FOI (Swedish Defence Research Agency) is actively engaged with us on this.

Based on an average technology investment budget of ~€120,000 per station per year, the TAM for MEV-Cam and the OptiSafe platform is approximately SEK 145 billion annually.
